As the Operations Manager and Instructor at CAPA in Duhok, I expertly oversee operations, ensuring programs run smoothly while teaching English language and literature. My commitment to excellence drives CAPA’s mission forward.

As co-founder, Board member, and CEO of Impact Hub Duhok, I lead day-to-day operations and impactful programs full-time.

With extensive language education experience, I’ve taught at the American University of Kurdistan and the University of Duhok. I’ve also translated for the Duhok Film Festival and managed administrative affairs at the University of Duhok.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Duhok, where I graduated at the top of my class. My research includes a dissertation on English and Kurdish nicknames and a sociolinguistic study on metaphors in English.

I’m responsible for developing and managing project plans, facilitating team communication, and optimizing resource allocation. I oversee program operations, including budgeting, risk management, and outcome evaluation, with a focus on financial planning and program delivery. Utilizing my program experience, I’m here to run Impact Hub Duhok’s programs.

As a Biomedical Engineer, I’ve led a team to develop a healthcare app for medical records in the KRG region. My experience includes market research, competitive analysis, and building comprehensive healthcare solutions. My time at Siemens Healthineers in Germany taught me the importance of customer research, clinical workflow analysis, and staying ahead of the competition in medical tech.

I’ve got a Double Degree in Biomedical Engineering from THM and UoD, and I’ve been lucky enough to participate in some amazing programs like the CAPAi Design Thinking Tech Bootcamp and Imperial College London’s Innovation Think Tank. These experiences have taught me the importance of innovation and collaboration in biomedical engineering and project coordination.

Hi there, I’m Khonav (which means dew. Yes, like Mountain Dew), and I run the marketing here. I have a passion for design and human psychology. At Impact Hub Duhok, my mission is to plan and lead marketing campaigns that shine a light on the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

I co-founded L&P Designs with my siblings, the first custom sneaker-designing business in Kurdistan, it taught me to think outside the box and understand how business works. My Computer Science background sparked a curiosity in design, particularly UX/UI. 
I took the next step and enrolled in a UX/UI Design Bootcamp with Re:Coded & Flatiron School, where I discovered the importance of human-centered experiences and empathy. It’s a value that now drives my approach to design and problem-solving. 

Hi, I’m Alend, your host at Impact Hub Duhok. I’m responsible for keeping things running smoothly around here, and I’m proud to say I’ve got the communication skills to make it happen. With a background in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Zakho, I’ve got a solid foundation in problem-solving and project management. But I’m not just about the technical stuff – I’ve also got a passion for leadership and a knack for bringing people together.

From oil fields to food banks, I’ve had a diverse range of experiences that have taught me to be adaptable and resourceful. And, I’ve got the certificates to prove it – from my Summer Internship Training at DNO PSK to my participation in the Iraqi Young Leaders Exchange Program (IYLEP).

As the President of the American University of Kurdistan, I provide strategic leadership and foster a student-centered learning environment that values innovation and professional excellence. I’m committed to promoting personal and intellectual growth, ensuring successful graduation and gainful employment for our students.

As a co-founder of Impact Hub Duhok, I’m available to provide guidance and support to our team. With extensive experience in higher education, I’ve developed expertise in academic planning, development, and implementation, ensuring our programs meet high standards and industry needs.

I hold a Ph.D. in Art History from the University of Chicago, and my leadership has enhanced our university’s academic standards and research portfolio, aligning student learning outcomes with industry expectations.

As the Director of AUK CAPA, I’m all about ensuring our programs run smoothly and making a positive impact in the community. I’m also a co-founder and board member of Impact Hub Duhok, where I spend about four hours each day managing our daily operations and programs.

With over 30 years of international experience under my belt, I’ve gained valuable insights in areas like governance, education, and business innovation. I hold an MBA from Edinburgh Business School, along with a Certificate in Enology and Wine Business from the EVN Wine Academy.

In my role as a board member, I love using my experience to help shape Impact Hub’s programs. I enjoy brainstorming ideas for workshops, professional development initiatives, and business strategies. My aim is to enhance our capacity to support entrepreneurs and foster community growth.

I’m a seasoned finance professional with a passion for driving growth and innovation. As the Vice President for Administration and Finance at the American University of Kurdistan, I lead the university’s financial and administrative operations, overseeing a team of 45-50 employees. My expertise lies in developing strategic financial plans, managing budgets, and ensuring fiscal accountability.

As a co-founder of Impact Hub Duhok, I bring my financial acumen and leadership skills to the table, providing guidance and support to the team. With a strong background in financial analysis and customer service, I’m known for my ability to break down complex financial data into clear, actionable insights.

I hold a Master of Accountancy and Control from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and a certification in Strategy and Competitive Analysis from the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) in New Jersey, USA. My experience and education have equipped me with the skills and knowledge to drive financial excellence and support the growth of innovative initiatives.

As the Institutional Relations Manager at the American University of Kurdistan, I’m the bridge between our institution and the wider community. I build relationships with government bodies, public institutions, and organizations to advance our university’s goals and interests.

With a background in project coordination and public relations, I’ve learned to navigate complex projects and communicate effectively with all stakeholders. My experience as an accountant has also given me a keen eye for financial detail and a ability to analyze data to inform business decisions.
